A new year is upon us again. For quite a few years I'd been thinking of taking up this mantle of creating a blog and pouring my thoughts into it. Every year I procrastinated, being the lazy bum I am. This one's different, it seems. For once, I'm actually writing a blog, which will hopefully run longer than my other New Year's resolutions. What caused this sudden turn of events, I don't really know. I think it might have to do with the fact that everyone around me is sleeping all the time, while it is cold and rainy outside, and I'm getting really tired of sitting in my room learning Python. Whatever the reason is, I believe this is a good thing. I was sorely in need of a new hobby, and I think I'm already beginning to like this.
To be honest, I feel that the lazy bum that I am stays lazy only until the point when something catches my fancy. I think this is how the world works, right? You explore and find things you like doing, and then do the shit out of them. This is one of the ways people stay happy, I guess. It must be said, following one's passions is a healthy way of staying happy. In these times of social media, most of us (yours truly included) live in an ego bubble, and that bubble gives us a sense of security and happiness. What else is the relevance of a Facebook like other than a gentle ego massage? But I digress.
I was talking about happiness. It appears to me that the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental struggle in everyone's life. Now, happiness comes in many different flavours. If you're wise, you'd take the flavour you get, and be thankful that you got it, and spend time enjoying it until you need to find some more. If you're wiser, though, you'll take the flavour you get, be thankful, enjoy it a little, and share the rest with others, so that there is no scarcity of happiness in the market of life. The point is, being happy should motivate one to invest in others' happiness. Life isn't a zero-sum game. Why not play it so everyone gets a flavour of happiness?
Before I started writing this post, I had no idea what shape it would take. In all fairness, I'd have guessed it would have turned out to be a humorous post. Not quite near the truth, I'm afraid. Maybe the hailstorm of thoughts in my mind acts as a nice little surprise maker. Even I can't decide what I would be pushing on you. If you've stayed with me until now, thanks a lot. I hope I can be regular on this blog. There are lots of thoughts in my head that need airing. Hope to be back here soon. People are waking up, it seems.
Wish you a very Happy New Year!
